Our family portrait photography captures the relationship you have with those you love.
Allow me to share a personal family story.
On my wall at home, I have a series of images of my Grandma at age 95 intently sharing a box of "Lindt" chocolates with my son aged 6 at the time. Our visits to Grandma were as often as we could, each a precious moment. I felt so proud taking my son to visit his Great Grandma, just as my parents must have felt bringing me to visit her and Grandad when I was small. Our chocolate sharing became a tradition, my son would select and buy the chocolates himself out of his pocket-money.
One day, I said to myself, "John, you should photograph this" and so I did.
Not long after, Grandma's health began to deteriorate, slowly at first then rapidly. The time had come that our chocolate sharing moments were over. We visited when we had a moment. We would leave in silence, holding hands, sharing a cuddle, fighting back tears. We no longer visit Grandma, she passed away a day after her 99th birthday.
I see those photos of my Grandma and my son sharing those chocolates everyday. Sometimes I catch my son standing for a quiet moment in front of the images, just staring at them before heading off to do what boys do.
These images are becoming our memories, a reminder of a moment I will always treasure. I am so glad I took the time to photograph “that moment.”
When was the last time you took the opportunity to have a portrait of yourself, your family or the ones you love?
